A large portion of the fuselage and wing sections are made from aluminum extrusions. Airbus has recently and sometimes controversially moved towards composite materials. Aerospace grade aluminum sheet is fascinatingly strong and versatile material. 7075 & 2024 are often used in extreme sports and auto racing because aerospace-grade material sets the standard for strength and lightweight.
